Great things happening!

Hey all! We’ve been having so much fun playing in new places, for new faces. So far, our out of town gigs have been very successful. We feel so blessed by all the wonderful people who have been taking care of us on and off the road, who support real music. If it weren’t for the music fans, the music lovers couldn’t do what they love…and we LOVE what we do!

If you haven’t had a chance to get your copy of “The Way Home” there are still HUNDREDS left, so don’t worry. You can still buy them online at CdBaby, or in Columbia at The Peace Nook, Crazy Music, or The Unity Center Bookstore. We’ve also got a bunch of new merchandise that you can purchase at any of our shows. So check out when we’re coming to your town so you can pick up a T-Shirt!

Also, check out this great review of “The Way Home” by Aarik Danielson of the Columbia Daily Tribune!

See you at the next show!!

….and the journey begins..

Violet and the Undercurrents' bassist: Ruth Acuff

So here it is…The first blog post for my musical journey ramblings. If you are reading this, thank you for taking the time out to check out this site. I have been working hard the past year to prepare myself for becoming a full time performer. I’ve been a student, a teacher, a sister, girlfriend, friend, listener, observer, learner, etc…but above all and always, I’ve been an artist. This life long journey of following my music as an art form has been the most rewarding thing in my life and I thank spirit/the universe for giving me such a clear path to follow. At the age of 22, I’ve accomplished a lot, but know I am no where near finished with what I’m set out to do.

After playing solo for nearly 14 years, I have now begun collaborating with some very exceptional musicians. My band: Violet and the Undercurrents, has been one of the best things that has happened to my music in a long time. Collaborating with two already established musicians in the Columbia, MO music scene, has been a huge blessing. I look forward to collaborating with my band every time we step on stage or in the practice room. I feel so blessed to be working with such beautiful and talented musicians.

Violet and the Undercurrents' drummer: Phylshawn Johnson

I have been recording a new album for the past year and am very excited to share it with the world very soon.  I was very lucky to grow up with supportive parents and a loving community. My roots are deep within the Moniteau county soil, the county of my home and my birth. Born in the same house I was raised in, that my father has built from the ground up, I know what it is to have a dream and make it real. By watching my parents work hard year after year, to sculpt the land and build the home they want, I have been inspired to do the same, with my music. For this reason, I have chosen to title the upcoming album, “The Way Home”, which is dedicated to my parents. It has been an important lesson for me to learn that no matter what and where I go in life, I can always go home, as long as I remember the way there.

Again, to all my listeners, thank you so much for all the loving support throughout the years. I cannot wait to share with you the works of my soul, in hopes it helps you find the way to your home, in whatever shape or form.

Stay tuned!
